For 2014, we’re pleased to present a version of this enduring design that hasn’t been seen since 1948!
After WWII, mohair was in short supply in Germany, requiring Steiff to use alternative materials.
That’s when Silk Teddy Baby was born. Instead of mohair, the coat of our reproduction is a rich, golden silk-milled especially to match the color and texture of the post-war original.
He wears a genuine leather collar that finished with an antiqued brass bell.
Even his chest tag has been re-created to match the 1948 design.
